KELS' BUKA PUASA EVENT WITH TV3

On 29 August 2009, a crew from TV3's prime time news visited KCI student apartments to record a short feature on how foreign students celebrate the month of Ramadhan.
A group of enthusiastic students from Iraq, Sudan and Kyrgystan were excited to participate in this event and show their culture and cuisine to the millions of TV3 viewers.
Mustafa from ELD was equally enthusiastic and very kindly spent his Saturday morning with the students, going to various supermarkets to buy the necessary ingredients. This took many hours, as the students had to search for ingredients for food from 4 different countries!
Next, the students went to the KCI student apartments in Kepong, where they worked with only a few utensils to create a five star meal for their local guests. Asel, Elamin, Ahmed, Abeer, Mohamed and Yaser, assisted by Farrukh, worked hard for almost 4 hours to prepare various dishes from their countries.

Finally, the guests arrived and were surprised to see the table laden with food. While waiting the muezzin to call for the Maghrib prayer, the students, TV3 crew, and KCI staff chatted and the students described the various dishes to the Malaysians present. The TV3 journalist took this time to find out more about the students and the cameraman was surprised to see so many different faces representing Muslims from around the world.

When it was time to break fast, all the guests, and hosts, enjoyed the delicious spread, which featured rice, chicken, brinjals, yoghurt, lamb and pasta, bread and some very special drinks from Sudan.
Finally, interviews were recorded and it has to be said that all the students spoke very well and did the college proud!
